Osteopathy has much to offer for some of the health problems that tend to accompany our advancing years. Many of the conditions causing pain, stiffness and disability can be improved with carefully applied osteopathic treatment.
Over our lifetimes our bodies have to deal with many challenges to our health and well-being. These can range from physical accidents and trauma, to emotional challenges and difficulties, or illnesses. The body does its best to recover from each of these and to maintain a good state of health. However, these events can leave a residual effect which gradually undermines the body’s health, and a progressive deterioration is noticed.
A trained osteopath can use skilled palpation to detect strains, stresses and loss of function resulting from old accidents and injuries in all areas of the body. Gentle osteopathic treatment is used to effectively release areas of strain or tension and rebalance the posture, to relieve undue load on vulnerable areas, and improve the circulation to all tissues of the body. In addition advice may be offered regarding exercise, posture and diet. The result is often an improvement in many different aspects of health.
Despite our tendency to accumulate problems with age, suffering pain, stiffness and poor health are NOT an inevitable part of getting older.
