Independence

The SCC was founded in 1993 as a result of a need to set up a college independent of all osteopathic schools, for teaching the work of
William Garner Sutherland.

Faculty Teacher Training

We realised that in addition to a larger faculty we needed to deepen our teaching skills. Consequently the SCC is also a teacher training
organisation accredited by the 'City and Guilds'.

The SCC Pathway develops

Initially the SCC held an annual five day course in London, but that was to change. Due to the need to take training from beginner to advanced levels of "cranial osteopathy" we developed a pathway structure of nine modules. The student of cranial osteopathy is taken from "raw beginner" to a high level of proficiency with completion of the pathway. Students who complete the pathway standard are awarded the post nominal letters MSCC - Member of the Sutherland Cranial College.

The Future

Since its initial founding concept the SCC has moved from strength to
strength. The original faculty of 17 has grown to 60 as the number of courses has escalated over the years. From an initial one course per year, the SCC has developed a pathway for learning and teaches in Germany in addition to the UK. We apply our osteopathic principles to how we teach and how we administer the college, and from this strength the SCC looks towards a very successful future.
